As a mother and first-generation college graduate, I know first-hand the impact higher education holds on the trajectory of one's future. The experiences I’ve navigated as the first in my family to pursue a higher education fuel my passion about higher education and desire to ensure that all folks regardless of income, gender, immigration status, and ability have access to higher education. I’m motivated to continue being an advocate for those most in need and bring resources that help build a more equitable, inclusive community.
Given my experience and relationships within the community, I am confident I will be able to work alongside my colleagues to meet the needs of the community. As someone who has personally benefited from attending Rio Hondo Community College, I want to ensure others have the same opportunity. I humbly request for your vote on March 2nd, please vote Anais Medina Diaz for Rio Hondo Community College Trustee Area 1. |
COMMUNITY. EDUCATION. EQUITY.
I’m motivated to continue being an advocate for those most in need and bring resources that help build a more equitable, inclusive community. If elected, I will work tirelessly as a trustee on the Rio Hondo Community College Board to meet the needs of the community and represent the needs of students in Area 1.
Provide the necessary COVID19 resources to support the dreams of our students, particularly the traditionally underserved groups: students of color, returning older students, and low-income or housing-insecure students.

Continue and expand the partnership between Rio Hondo Community College and local K-12 school districts in Area 1 to support and improve college pathways for our students. I would love to see Rio Hondo expand programs like the Early College Academy to other high schools within the El Monte Union High School District.

Increase programs and certifications in environment, water, sciences, and communications and build partnerships to ensure students are finding job opportunities within their fields of study.
